Description
The dovecote, located approximately 20 metres north-west of The Nunnery, is likely from the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared sandstone and features a stone slate roof. The building has a rectangular single-cell plan with three low storeys and one bay. The east front includes two square windows at the ground floor, with a flight of stone steps at right angles leading to a doorway on the first floor. Above this doorway, there is another doorway, and a continuous stone ledge encircles the building at the level between these doorways. The south gable has a square opening, which is now glazed, at the second floor, with a semicircular perching ledge below it. The gable copings have scrolled ends and there is a weathervane on the south gable. The west side features only one altered or inserted window at the first floor.
