Description
The Laurels is an early 19th-century house located on Thorner Main Street. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a Welsh blue-slate roof. The building has a two-cell central-entry layout with stairs, and it stands two storeys high, with two windows on the first floor. The facade is symmetrical and includes a deep ashlar plinth. The doorway is accessed by a short flight of three stone steps and has tie-stone jambs, a six-panel door, and an overlight. The flanking bays contain windows with wedge-shaped lintels that have false voussoirs, retaining four-pane sashes. The house also features gutter brackets and ashlar gable stacks. There is a mid-20th-century extension at the rear, which is not of special interest. The building is included for its group value.
