Description
The property comprises a pair of houses located at 76 and 78 St Michaels Road, Leeds. Dating to the early and mid 19th century, they stand on a prominent site on the edge of the former village of Headingley, as depicted on a map of 1834. The houses are constructed from coursed squared gritstone with a slate roof, hipped to the left and with gable coping to the right. The design is of two storeys and five bays, with the central bay featuring a gable that projects forward and rusticated quoins. The principal entrances are in bays two and five, each featuring a four-panel door – part glazed on the left – a fanlight with glazing bars, and a rusticated porch. The porch on the left has ashlar pilasters with incised decoration, paired brackets, and a shallow pediment. A narrow entrance, contained within a plain stone surround, is situated far to the left. Windows are sash designs, with a corniced window centrally. Margin lights are present on the ground floor of bay four, and on the paired round-arched upper-floor windows in the centre. The interior of the houses has not been inspected.
