Description

Ivy Cottage is an early 19th-century cottage located on Cross Chapel Street in Headingley, Leeds. The front is built of coursed rubble, while the sides and rear are of larger squared gritstone blocks, with a stone slate roof. The cottage is two storeys high with a rear outshut, and has three bays. The central entrance has a plain surround and an added porch. The windows are four-pane sashes with stone sills and lintels. The roof has a shallow pitch, and the ends have rendered stacks. The rear outshut is an addition, incorporating outbuildings to the right, which likely served as a privy and pigsty. The interior has not been inspected. Ivy Cottage is a remnant of a farm or cottage group north of Headingley, depicted on the 1850 Ordnance Survey map.
