Description
Beechwood is an early 19th-century house, now used as offices, located off Elmete Lane in Roundhay, Leeds. The main range is two storeys and five bays wide, with a two-bay rear wing recessed on the left and a further courtyard range to the north. A central bay projects slightly, featuring a stone porch with Tuscan columns in antis, an entablature and cornice. The ground floor has sash windows with glazing bars, while the first floor features pilaster quoins, a band, blocking course and cornice. Two ridge stacks are present. The left-hand wing, possibly added later, is of similar style but includes a blocking course. The east side of the rear wing features four segmental-arched windows with edge-tooled voussoirs and 16-pane sashes. A lower range encloses two sides of a former stable yard, incorporating round-arched doorways (some blocked) and a segmental carriage arch. A high wall and gate piers with segmental-arched capstones are situated to the east. The interior has not been inspected.
