Description
The Lodge to the Gascoigne Almshouses was built around 1844 and is likely designed by the architect George Fowler Jones, who also designed the Almshouses. It is constructed of dressed limestone and features a roof made of graduated slates. The building is a single storey with two small bays in a Gothic style.
On the drive side, there is a prominent gabled porch that is offset to the left. This porch has moulded 4-centred arched outer and inner doorways, with the inner door being a boarded design fitted with strap hinges. To the right of the porch, there is a canted bay window with mullions and a transom, topped with a hipped roof. Above this window, there is a large gablet that contains a shield.
All the gables are adorned with gable parapets, gableted kneelers, and fleur-de-lys apex finials. The roof is steeply pitched and features a cockscomb ridge, with a chimney located behind the ridge. Additionally, there is a single-storey flat-roofed extension to the right of the main structure.
