Description

Barran's Fountain is a drinking fountain dated 1882, located in Roundhay Park, Leeds. It is designed in the form of a Classical rotunda made of ashlar stone. The structure features eight Corinthian columns on pedestals that support an entablature topped with a stone dome. Between the columns are round-headed shell niches that hold pink marble gadrooned fountain bowls facing outward, while fluted bowls are set in moulded niches on the inside. An inscription on the inner face of the entablature notes that the fountain was presented to the Borough of Leeds by John Barran MP.
