Description

The gate piers, gates, and railings at Roundhay Park in Leeds were built around 1872. They serve as the entrance to the park and feature ashlar piers, wrought-iron gates, and railings. There are three pairs of piers, each with pilaster quoins, a deep cornice, and a square capstone topped with wrought-iron scrolled finials. The double gates are elaborately scrolled and include a central panel displaying the Leeds coat of arms, with pedestrian gates that are similar in design. The railings have scrolled middle and top rails, along with ball finials. The park and mansion were acquired by Leeds Corporation and opened to the public for recreation in 1872.
