Description
The coach house and stables to Roundhay Park, now used as stores, were built in the early 19th century and altered in the 20th century. They are possibly designed by John Clark for Thomas Nicholson of Roundhay Park. The building is constructed of ashlar stone and features a slate hipped roof. It has two storeys and consists of three window bays. Quoin pilasters are present, and the central bay, which has a pediment, projects forward. The ground floor includes two elliptical carriage arches that have been later glazed, and above the eaves band is a weathered ashlar plaque in a moulded surround. The flanking bays feature an arcaded ground floor with three doors on the left and windows beside a central door on the right. All windows are square with plain sills and lintels, fitted with later two-pane frames. The first floor has an eaves band, and there is a large central clock tower topped with a cupola supported by Tuscan columns and an ogee dome, which features an elaborate wrought-iron wind vane. The interior has not been inspected.
