Description
No. 259 Upper Town Street is a manor house that has been converted into offices. It was built in the late 18th century, altered in the 19th century, and restored in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared gritstone and features a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and is composed of three bays plus two additional bays. The corners are marked by quoins. The central entrance is wide and flanked by Tuscan columns, with tall windows on either side that have security roller blinds, along with square outer windows. The first floor has paired and single-light sash windows with plain surrounds, featuring 20th-century frames. The building also includes stone gutter brackets, gable copings, and end stacks from the original three-bay house and the two-bay extension on the left. The interior has not been inspected.
