Description

The boundary wall with gate piers to Sycamore Lodge was built around 1860 and restored in the late 20th century. It is made of coursed squared gritstone and ashlar, measuring approximately 90 meters long and enclosing the west and south sides of the gardens. The wall stands about 1.5 meters high and features a ramped design with chamfered coping. Near the south end of the west wall, there is a gateway marked by monolithic chamfered square piers that are about 2 meters high. These piers have a plinth, roll moulding, and an ogee-domed overhanging capstone, adorned with raised flower motifs and the name 'SYCAMORE LODGE'. The structure is included for its group value.
