Description
The Abbey Inn is a public house built in the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It features coursed squared gritstone and a slate roof. The building has two storeys and two bays, with quoins at the corners. The original central doorway, which has tie-stone jambs and a plain lintel, has been blocked. The flanking windows and the first-floor windows are designed with two-light flat-faced mullions. The gable has coping, and there are banded stacks at the ends. A large modern porch has been added to the right side of the building. Inside, the layout was largely replanned and refitted in the late 20th century. The cellar extends beneath the yard at the rear and features two stone segmental arches.
