Description

The Mortuary Chapel, located in the center of Edgerton Cemetery, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a pitched fishscale slate roof. The chapel comprises two sections with parapetted gables, openwork parapets along the sides, and finials at the corners. Diagonal buttresses support the structure, and there are porches with buttresses on either side. The windows are adorned with decorated tracery. The two chapels are linked by a large rib-vaulted arch, and the entire building is topped with a tall octagonal fleche, which has open arches in the bottom stage and is surmounted by crocketed gablets and an octagonal spire.
