Description
No 147 on Town Gate is a dwelling that may have originally been a barn, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with quoins and features a pitched stone slate roof. The building has three storeys.
On the north-east gable, there is a ground floor entrance with a deep lintel, while the first and second floors each have a 6-light stone mullioned window, although two mullions have been removed from the first floor window. The north-west elevation includes a through passage with a segmental arch and a later or enlarged window that has a central mullion.
On the south-east elevation, above the segmental archway, there is a 2-light stone mullioned window on both the first and second floors, with the first floor window having a mullion removed. Additionally, there is a lean-to extension on the south-east side that features an entrance, a 2-light window on the ground floor, and a 3-light window on the first floor.
