Description

Westfield House is a detached house dating from the early or mid 18th century, with 19th-century and more recent alterations. The front of the house is built of deeply coursed millstone grit, while the rear is rendered. Quoins mark the corners. The roof is steeply pitched, covered in slate, and features gable copings on carved kneelers, along with moulded stone brackets. There are two gable stacks, one built of ashlar stone.

The house is two storeys high and has a central doorway with a recently rebuilt shallow arch. To the right of the doorway is a 19th-century, three-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor, above which is a four-light, double-chamfered window on the first floor. Above the doorway is another three-light, double-chamfered window. A more recent window is visible to the left of the doorway on both floors. The northeast gable has a chamfered window opening, for a basement window, within a light well.

Inside, there’s a fireplace with a stone surround and a deep arched lintel.
