Description
The Old School in St Peter's Churchyard, located northeast of the church, was originally a school room, though it likely started as a bier house. It dates from around 1828 and is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings. The building features a stone slate roof with gable copings on the east side and an ashlar gable stack on the west, which has string courses.
This small, single-storey structure consists of a single cell. The central doorway has a pointed arch and a hood mould. On either side of the doorway, there is a three-light window with round arched lights, and a similar window is located at the rear. The gable wall facing the road has a large doorway, which is now blocked, also featuring a pointed arch and a hood mould.
