Description
This large house, originally part of a pair, is dated 1745 but likely dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and features quoins. The stone slate roof has chamfered gable copings on cut kneelers and a large central stack. The building is two storeys high with a symmetrical facade. There are entrances on the left and right, although the left entrance is blocked. Each dwelling has a 4-light window with recessed mullions on both floors, with the ground floor windows featuring a recessed lower lintel. A central enriched datestone, possibly reset, displays foliage decoration and the raised letters "I R 1745." The left gable has four tall 19th-century 2-light chamfered windows, two on each floor, all of which are blocked and have hood moulds. The rear elevation includes four 4-light windows, each with two mullions removed, except for the ground floor left window, which adjoins a doorway that has been converted to a 3-light window.
