Description

The office block at Lockwood Brewery, dating from the early 19th century, is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a pitched stone slate roof. The building stands two storeys tall and is adorned with a moulded eaves cornice and parapets. It has five ranges of sash windows with plain raised surrounds. The entrance door is set in a moulded surround and is sheltered by a porch supported by paired unfluted Greek Doric columns, featuring a frieze with four sculpted wreaths and a pediment above. Inside, the entrance hall showcases two fluted Ionic columns, and there is a staircase with a cast iron balustrade located in a top-lit hall that has a plaster ceiling decorated with an anthemion pattern.
