Description

The chimney in Old Spring Wood, located south of Armitage Bridge Mill, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and has an octagonal, tapering shape. The chimney features a coved cornice with a blocking course and includes one bull-nosed string, above which there is one sunk panel on each side. Although it is completely free-standing, it is connected to Armitage Bridge Mill by an underground flue.
