Description
The Manor House is a Grade II listed building located on Woodsome Lees Lane in Kirkburton. Originally constructed in the 17th century, it was built by the Kaye family of Woodsome for the Broadhead family. The house features an ashlar front with dressed stone sides and a plinth. It has a stone slate roof with hollow chamfered gable copings on cut kneelers, and a central ashlar stack that has been altered. The building has finials at the apexes and kneelers, and is two storeys high with a continuous throated drip mould between the floors.
The front has two gables, each with a central doorway that has a moulded surround and a plaque set into the deep door lintel. Each gable contains a 10-light mullioned and transomed double chamfered window on both floors, with the first-floor windows featuring hood moulds. The gable apexes have blocked double chamfered 2-light windows with hood moulds.
On the right side elevation, there is a later doorway and double chamfered windows, including a 6-light mullioned and transomed window and a 5-light window. The left side has a prominent central ashlar stack with a moulded base and cap, and further left is a later 18th-century addition or alteration, which was likely once two dwellings. This addition has two central doorways with chamfered reveals, one of which has been slightly altered, and features 2 and 3-light windows on the first floor that have also been altered.
A 19th-century addition is present at the rear. Inside No. 2, there are stop-chamfered beams. The interior of No. 1 has not been inspected.
