Description
Park Riding is a detached house dating from the late 18th century, with some alterations and additions. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone, featuring ashlar quoins, and has a stone slate roof with gable copings supported by large, built-up kneelers. The house has two storeys and an attic, with the entrance front on the southeast gable consisting of three bays. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, and there are central doors topped with a segmental fanlight. Above the doors, there is a single light in a pediment with a segmental false arch. The side elevations also have sash windows. The interior is reported to include doors with six-fielded panels and sunk-panelled window shutters. Park Riding served as the dower house for the Armitage family, as noted in 'The History of Honley' by M A Jagger, published in 1914.
