Description

The Albion Inn is a public house dating from the late 17th or early 18th century, and has been altered over time. It is rendered, with pitched slate roofs. The building is three storeys high and has a double pile plan. The front facade was originally the rear of a larger house, as evidenced by the central stair window positioned between the ground and first floors. A mullion is missing from the centre of the original facade, and one or possibly two transoms are also absent. Four-light windows, each with two mullions removed, are present on each floor to the left and right, except for a single-light opening on the ground floor right, which appears to be an alteration. A central two-light window, also lacking a mullion, is located on the second floor. All windows have double chamfered surrounds. The current rear of the house is partially obscured by a recent ground floor extension, revealing only a single four-light, double-chamfered window with two removed mullions to the right. The first and second floors each have four-light windows to the left and right, with a centrally blocked two-light window on the second floor, all with double chamfered surrounds. A recent doorway provides access to a first-floor balcony above the extension.
