Description

This is a mile post located 50 yards south of the junction with Washpit New Road, dating from the mid to late 19th century. It features a cast iron triangular front with a rounded top, mounted on a stone post. The inscription on the mile post reads: "HOLMFIRTH ROAD WOOLDALE SHEFFIELD HUDDERSFIELD 20 ½ MILES 7 MILES PENISTONE HOLMFIRTH 6 MILES ½ MILE."
