Numbers 1 and 3 and the premises of the Benson Tool Hire Company are buildings dating from the 18th century or early 19th century. They are constructed of hammer dressed stone and feature a pitched stone slate roof. The buildings stand three storeys tall at the front, while the rear is two storeys with a catslide roof. A modillion eaves cornice adorns the top.
The front facade includes two ranges of tripartite stone mullioned sash windows, with the central lintel being higher than the others. There are also various stone mullioned casements on the sides. The rear features one range of tripartite stone mullioned casements and a door with two sunk panels. A continuous vertical staircase window is located on the west side. The rear wing has four ranges of industrial windows on the west side and one range of part-blocked loading doors on the north side.
