Description

This listing describes Nos. 1 and 3, Lockwood Scar, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings, and has a pitched roof of stone slate. It is three storeys high with attics and features a modillion eaves cornice and rusticated quoins. The front facade has three bays of bipartite sash windows in plain raised frames. There are two doors, each set within a moulded frame with a frieze and moulded cornice.

The side elevation presents one bay of four-light stone mullioned windows, and another bay containing loading doors. A flight of 12 stone steps provides access to the loading door on the first floor. The rear elevation has two bays of four-light stone mullioned windows; a door to the second floor is accessed by a wooden ladder.
