Description

23 Bridge Street is a 2-storey building dating from 1828, constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a hipped stone slate roof. The exterior features stone brackets supporting the gutter and a continuous sill on the first floor. There are two sash windows with glazing bars and one shop window that has a moulded frame and cornice. The building has a rounded corner with an additional sash window with glazing bars. The entrance includes a door with a fanlight and glazing bars. Inside, the original chemist's shop fittings are preserved, including shelves with small turned balusters and depressed arched valences at the top, which bear the painted inscriptions "Physicians Prescriptions Accurately Prepared" and "Robt Robinson. Chemist and Druggist 1828."
