Description

This is a pair of mid-19th century houses located on the south side of New North Road. They are built of hammer-dressed stone with a pitched slate roof, featuring coped gables on cut kneelers ornamented with gablets. The houses exhibit a symmetrical composition. The central ranges are gabled and feature ground floor canted bays with bands of foliage sculpture around the imposts. The windows in these bays are sash windows with shaped heads and moulded cornices. The first floor windows are two-light pointed sashes, separated by detached colonnettes with foliate capitals. Inscribed quatrefoils appear above these colonnettes, and pointed hoodmoulds are above the windows. Further quatrefoils with hoodmoulds are present in the gable ends. The outer ranges have trefoil-headed sashes on the first floor, and doors with trefoil-headed fanlights behind timber porches. These porches have gabled roofs, trefoiled arches, and chamfered posts.
