Description

This is a row of twenty-five terraced houses, numbers 20 to 44 Manchester Road, built in the early to mid 19th century. The houses are constructed of ashlar stone and have pitched stone slate roofs. They are three storeys high, with stone brackets supporting the gutter line. A continuous sill band runs along the first floor, though it is absent from numbers 42 and 44. The windows are predominantly sashes, although the ground floor windows have been replaced with modern versions. Number 34 has a door with six moulded panels. There are four round-arched passage entrances, constructed with plain raised voussoirs and imposts, located between numbers 26 and 28, 30 and 32, 36 and 38, and 40 and 42.
