Description

Number 36 on New Street is a building dating from 1850. It is constructed of ashlar and stands three storeys high. The building features a deeply projecting eaves cornice adorned with shallow paired modillions. There is a continuous sill band at the second floor level. The ground floor has a modern shop front, while the first floor has three window ranges. The windows on the first floor have plain raised surrounds, with the central window featuring moulded surrounds and a cornice supported by brackets. The second floor has a continuous wind band, which is separated by broad piers that have two deep horizontal grooves scored into each. The overall style of the building is Glaswegian.
