Description
Fernbrook is a house dating from 1867, constructed of rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and a pitched slate roof with coped gables. It is two storeys high and three bays wide, with the left-hand bay gabled. This gabled bay features a tripartite sash window with segment-headed lights, framed by colonnettes with foliage capitals. A paired sash window is present on the first floor, with two-centred heads to the lights, and another paired sash on the attic floor, round-arched with moulded imposts; a two-centre relieving arch defines the gable. The right-hand bay incorporates a canted ground floor bay with Caernarvon-arched sash windows and a moulded cornice. A paired sash window, again with two-centred heads to the lights, sits on the first floor. The central bay is narrow and slightly recessed. A porch is supported by an arcade of two arches on each side, with paired columns framing the entrance, all featuring foliage capitals and two-centred heads, topped by a coped gable. A sash window is located on the first floor of the porch. All windows are topped with hoodmoulds.
