Description

Bradley Hall is a building that likely dates back to the 17th century, with its main structure rebuilt in the 19th century. It is designed in the longhouse style and constructed from hammer-dressed stone, topped with a pitched stone slate roof. A 19th-century red brick extension is located to the north. The building stands two storeys tall and features three ranges of stone mullioned casement windows, along with a door that has four moulded panels. The barn attached to the hall includes a segment-headed barn door, a planked door from the 17th century with chamfered jambs and lintel, and three first-floor openings with widely splayed embrasures, with another similar opening at the rear. The extension has one range of windows and one range of planked doors. Historically, Bradley was the southernmost grange of Fountains Abbey, covering 4,400 acres, and Bradley Hall may have served as the site of the principal farm.
