Description

The north eastern block of Colne Road Mills, located alongside Queen Street South, dates from the mid-19th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and features a hipped slate roof. The building has two storeys and a basement, with a modillioned eaves cornice and a blocking course. Above the central three bays, there is a parapet that includes a moulded cornice and a blocking course, flanked by four panelled piers. Each end of the building has pedimented-shaped parapets above the two outer bays. The façade consists of 15 ranges of sash windows with glazing bars, with the central three, the first two, and the last two breaking forward and having raised quoins. The entrance features double doors with four moulded panels and a fanlight, set within a Tuscan frame that includes a full entablature and pediment. This entrance is accessed by a flight of steps with cast iron railings topped with fleur-de-lys finials. Additionally, there are six ranges of sashes facing the canal side.
