Description

Number 40, including the barn, is an 18th-century longhouse type farm located in South Crosland. The front of the house was refronted in the late 19th century, so it is not included in the original listing. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone. The barn features a pitched stone slate roof, while the house has modern tiles. At the rear of the house, there is one three-light stone mullioned window, with two lights blocked. The barn underwent alterations in the early or mid 19th century, resulting in one elliptically headed arch and two round-headed loft windows at the rear.
