Description
Wynteredge Hall is a house from the mid-17th century that has been heavily restored and altered in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. The building is two stories tall, with the front appearing completely rebuilt while retaining the basic form of a gabled cross-wing and a gable above the doorway. The windows on the first floor are double chamfered mullioned, with only those retaining their original proportions. A single-storey gabled wing was added to the left side in the mid-19th century. The rear of the house still shows some original details, including an 18th-century double framed flat-faced mullioned and transomed window with six lights in the stairwell, and a double framed chamfered mullioned window with two lights and a crude hood above it on the right side. Inside, the main feature is a fine mid-18th-century staircase with two flights and a landing, which has turned newels, an open string, and panelled wainscot. A king truss with 'V' struts is still in place, along with a plaster overmantel displaying coats of arms within an arcade surrounded by heraldic beasts, dating from the mid-17th century.
