Description
This is a 17th-century wall with an archway attached to Ball Green. It is constructed from squared rubblestone brought to course. The structure features two walls at right angles, with a basket-arched entrance in the west wall. The archway is quoined and has a moulded surround with imposts, voussoirs, and an inner rebate for gates. The wall is also quoined at the angle and where it meets the house, and it has roll-moulded, two-course coping that is original over and to the south of the arch, although it has been renewed in other areas. The wall rises above the arch, and the center of the north wall has three ball finials, with the central finial being larger. This wall is likely from the same period as the house, which is dated 1634.
