Description

This is an early 19th-century row of five cottages located on Wainsgate Lane in Wadsworth. The cottages are constructed of dressed stone, laid in a watershot pattern, with a stone slate roof. The row is two storeys high. Originally, each cottage had a doorway with a tie-stone jamb and a five-light, flat-faced mullioned window to the ground floor, with a matching window above on the first floor. Some of the mullions have since been removed. Four chimney stacks are visible on the main range. Number 1 breaks forward and features quoins. The south-facing gable of Number 1 has a doorway to the left of two flat-faced mullioned windows of three lights. The first floor of Number 1 has a four-light and a three-light window. A single chimney stack rises from the ridge of Number 1.
