Description
The table tomb and surrounding railings mark the grave of John Fawcett, a Doctor of Divinity from Ewood Hall, who passed away on July 15th, 1817, at the age of 77. The tomb is constructed of ashlar with dressed stone walls and features coping. It is surrounded by cast iron railings topped with spear finials. The tomb itself has a moulded plinth, shallow incised sides, and a large overlapping slab that bears inscriptions. It is enclosed by three dwarf walls, arranged in a rectangular shape with an opening at the west end.
