Description

The gate piers and gates to Hawcliffe Rock were built around 1830 and are designed in the Gothic Revival style. The gate piers are square in shape and feature a rebated panel with cusped tracery at the top, which rises to form an elaborate carved pinnacle with crockets. The piers are supported by clustered columns with waterleaf capitals that hold up a pointed arch composed of three orders. The gates themselves are made of simple wrought iron. This gateway faces the main road.
