Description

This is a house, dated 1631, with significant alterations from the late 18th century. It is constructed of random rubble to the oldest part, with hammer-dressed stone in the later sections, and has a stone slate roof. The house is L-shaped and originally comprised three rooms.

The left-hand section, built in the 18th century and projecting forward, is characterised by quoins and two bays featuring two-light flat-faced mullioned windows. These windows have slightly recessed mullions; the ground floor windows retain four-paned sashes. A reused doorway is centrally placed, featuring composite jambs, a Tudor-arched lintel with sunken spandrels, and a moulded surround. A coped gable is present on the left-hand side, and gable stacks rise from the roof.

Set back to the right is an earlier, single-cell section, with a four-light double-chamfered mullioned window. This window has ogee-moulded mullions and a hoodmould with straight returns. Above it, on the first floor, is a two-light flat-faced mullioned window. An inserted doorway, with monolithic jambs, is to the left of a small chamfered light.

The rear wall is entirely of 17th-century origin, with three bays of windows. The first bay has inserted sash windows with plain stone surrounds. The second and third bays each have a two-light double-chamfered mullioned window with a small chamfered light on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
