Description

The Former City Public House, built around 1860, is a two-storey structure located at 220 and 222 City Road in Bradford. The ground floor features grooved ashlar, while the first floor is stuccoed. It has a deep frieze with a bed mould, a moulded eaves cornice, and a steep slate roof with flanking chimneys. The front has three gabled dormers and is arranged in three bays. The first-floor windows are round-headed, with a thin impost string and a sill band. The ground floor has segmental arched windows and a doorway. The use of stucco during this period in Bradford is unusual. This building is included for its group value with nearby dyeworks and mill complex.
