Description
This is a terrace of 22 workers' houses, built in Saltaire by 1857, as part of Titus Salt’s model village. The buildings were designed by Lockwood and Mawson. They are constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with Welsh slate roofs. The terrace is two storeys high, with each house having one bay, except for the end houses, which project slightly and have two bays. The end houses also feature a round-arched archivolted doorway and window. The ground floor windows are square-headed and sit upon a sill band. The majority of the houses have a plain doorway and one window to each floor. Some houses have had bathroom windows inserted, and a few are rendered. Wooden brackets support the guttering on the end houses. The roofs are hipped, and the end houses have two-bay return elevations. The end houses are more elaborately designed due to their visibility from Caroline Street and Titus Street.
