Description
No. 14 Low Fold is a cottage dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. It is built of hammer-dressed stone and has a stone slate roof. The cottage has three storeys and features a single-cell gable-entry doorway located to the right of a single window with plain stone surrounds. Above this, there is another window with plain stone surrounds that retains a 4-paned sash. The front-facing gable is coped and has kneelers and a stack. On the right-hand return wall, there is a former taking-in door that has been altered to a window, positioned to the right of a square window with a plain stone surround and 4-paned fixed glazing. The second floor has three windows, one of which is a two-light window with a mullion.
Inside, there is an unusual oak collar beam truss, likely intended to provide greater headroom in the top storey, which was used for textile manufacture.
