Description

Rough Holden Farmhouse and attached barn date from the early 19th century, with the barn likely built in the mid-18th century. The house is constructed of rubble brought to course, with dressed quoins, and has a stone slate roof. It follows a 2-cell direct-entry plan. The front has quoins on the right side and two bays of flat-faced mullioned windows; the first bay has two lights and the second bay has three lights on each floor. A doorway, also on the right, is framed by tie-stone jambs. There are two stacks on the ridge. To the left is a large barn, which has a tall cart entry set within a portal of an aisle. The aisle features a rectangular ventilator and a doorway with composite jambs leading to the mistal. A further doorway, set back to the left and blocked, has double tie-stone jambs with a chamfered surround. The barn's left side has a coped gable with kneelers.
