Description
The enclosed garden wall and gatepiers attached to the south front of Eldwick Hall date from the late 17th century. The structure is made of coursed rubble and ashlar. The gatepiers are constructed from large blocks and feature a cornice topped with carved finials. The inner side of each pilaster has a moulded top. The flanking walls create three sides of a square and have chamfered coping with ball finials at the corners where they meet the house. The opposing doorways are designed with monolithic jambs, impost blocks, and segmental-arched lintels that include false keystones.
