Description
The Crescent Hotel, built around 1860, is located at the corner of Brook Street and Leeds Road in Ilkley. This three-storey building is constructed of ashlar and is designed to form almost a quadrant of a circle. The façade features six sash windows to the left of a central recessed bay and four to the right. The top storey has plain windows, while the first storey includes moulded architraves, segmental heads, keystones, and a bracketed moulded sill band. The ground floor has a similar moulded sill band and plinth panels, with arched heads above the windows and a straight moulded hood.
The central bay contains a two-light sash window, which has a bracketed flat hood on the top floor and arched heads on columns under a similar hood on the first floor. The ground floor features a porch supported by two pairs of Tuscan columns that hold up an entablature with a modillioned cornice. The porch has a flat roof, a round-headed doorway with a fanlight, and flanking narrow windows with arched heads. The building is topped with a slate roof and has a strongly bracketed eaves cornice. The name of the hotel is displayed in large relief letters between the upper storeys. The rear of the building also follows a parallel quadrant curve and has a plain appearance with a ground floor bay window.
