Description

  1. 5111 BROOK STREET Ilkley LS29 8BG --------------------- Crescent Hotel SE 1147 1/47 II 2 Circa 1860. On the corner with Leeds Road and curved to form almost the quadrant of a circle. 3 storeys. Ashlar. 6 sash windows to the left of central recessed bay and 4 to the right: plain in top storey with moulded architraves, segmental heads, keystones and bracketed moulded sill band on 1st storey with moulded architraves, arched heads, keystones, straight moulded hood above and moulded sill band and plinth panels below on ground floor. Central bay has 2-light sash window: with bracketed flat hood on top floor; with arched heads on columns under similar hood on 1st floor; and on the ground floor there is a porch with 2 pairs of Tuscan columns supporting entablature (with modillioned cornice); flat roof, round-headed doorway with fanlight and flanking narrow windows with arched heads on imposts. Slate roof, over strongly bracketed eaves cornice. Between upper storeys the name in large relief letters. The rear follows a parallel quadrant curve. Plain, with ground floor bay window.
