Description
Manor House, formerly listed as Nos 1 and 3 The Castle, is a large house dating from the 16th century, with the central portion possibly being older. It now serves as a museum and has two to three storeys with an irregular layout. The building is constructed of coursed, squared stone and features a stone slab roof. The main north front has a gabled projection at the left end and two abutting gables at the right. The windows include a 4-light window under a dripmould, a 3-light window, and two 5-light windows. There is a plain pointed doorway on the left side of the central portion, along with later straight-headed doorways to the right of the central portion and on the left of the right-hand gable. The left gable has a third-storey window of three lights under a dripmould, while all other windows, except those in the left gable and the one above in the middle portion, are round-headed. The right-hand gables are topped with crocketed finials, and there is an additional fourth gable at the rear.
