Description
The gate-piers and flanking walls, located approximately 15 meters east of Eldwick Hall, are constructed from hammer-dressed stone and ashlar. The gate-piers are composite in design, featuring chamfered bases that lead up to square block entablatures topped with cyma-moulded cornices and ball finials. The walls have cyma-moulded coping that dips and then ramps outward.
On the left-hand end, there is a doorway with monolithic jambs and a lintel that has a chamfered surround. The corners of the walls also feature ball finials. The right-hand return wall ramps up to meet the house and includes a doorway with composite jambs and a basket-arched lintel, which also has a chamfered surround. To the left of this doorway, there is a three-light double-chamfered mullioned window, which is partly obscured by steps leading to the first-floor doorway of the house. A deep cyma-moulded string course runs above the door and window.
