Description

The terrace at 5 to 11 Upper Millergate dates to 1879. It shares the same design and construction as numbers 34 to 44 Sunbridge Road. This four-storey building is composed of sandstone ashlar, with each front slightly stepped. There are four windows on each floor. The ground floor currently accommodates modern shop fronts and a public house, set beneath a substantial entablature with heavy carved console brackets topped by modified anthemion crests. Sill bands and moulded projecting eaves cornices are present. First-floor windows have architrave surrounds with cornices above. The building demonstrates fine quality masonry.
