Description

This milepost, located opposite the petrol station on Halifax Road in Keighley, was likely created around 1805. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a round-arched head. The head is inscribed with "Keighley-Halifax Road, Bingley." On the left side, it indicates distances to Denholme (3½ miles), Halifax (10 miles), and Hebden Bridge (the base is buried in tarmac). On the right side, it shows that Keighley is 2 miles away. The turnpike associated with this milepost was established in 1805.
