Description

This is a terrace of twelve small houses, built around 1820. They are located on the north side of Main Street in Burley in Wharfedale, set back from the street and occupying a prominent position at the centre of the village, opposite the junction with Station Road. The buildings are constructed of dressed coursed stone with slate roofs. A moulded wooden cornice runs along the top of the buildings, supported by shallow moulded brackets. Each house has two windows, widely spaced, and originally featured sash windows with glazing bars, although the glazing bars are now missing. The window surrounds are flush slabs. The houses have central doorways with overlights. Number 100 likely retains its original door, made of four moulded panels. Number 98 has an additional window to the right, above a through-passage with a slab lintel. The building at number 86, the right-hand end of the terrace, has been extended. Some glazed porches have been added, and the window glazing has been replaced. Numbers 86 to 112 (even) form a group of buildings of group value.
